Artist's Description

If you insinuate yourself in a crack in a boulder on a grassy knob high above the Blue Ridge, you'd better be tough and determined. This old fellow is, I believe, on the top of the highest grassy knoll in Daughton Park. You see his magnificent sail from all over the high country landscape. In a place where winter is long with lots of snow and ice and winds are unrelenting year round, he's changed a lot since our first meeting. I suppose I have, too. One day we may go to this high country and find that our friend is gone. I suppose that's why we paint and write and take photographs. We all have wonderful moments in time that we would like to hold forever.
