Artist's Description

It's still out there just across a road covered with drifting sand at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. There's few of these survivors left, and there are a few less after each major Atlantic N'oreaster or hurricane. Before second homes became castles, this is what we used to mean by "a beach house". I happened on this cottage last December during our OBX get-a-way and knew I had to paint it. I made this little sketch on a postcard and sent it to my brother-in-law for his birthday.
