One of our few camping trips this fall was to Table Rock State Park in South Carolina. On a hike around one of the parks lakes we discovered this path to an old camping cabin that was built by the Civilian Conservation Corps during the Great Depression. The cabin is still used today. But, as usual, its the old stone steps that I can't resist painting. I always think of the young men who built their strength and self esteem before the outbreak of World War II. Every year there are fewer of them, but they'll be remembered as long as these stone stairs invite us to share their joy of being in the forests of our land. Good work men!
