Description
This swinging bridge, with a stone arch at either end, was built by members of the Civilian Conservation Corps in Tishomingo State Park, MS during the Great Depression. I suppose this is the sort of thing one could expect when the government builds a swinging bridge.

Thank you, Karol! The swinging bridge photos were so serendipitous, just a quick drive thru the other side of a State Park in Mississippi where we had camped overnight on the way to the Vicksburg Battleground. The CCC trained a lot of young men to be masons. Thanks for your comment. -- JD

I love this, I live in MS and have never been here. My Dad worked for the CCC when he and my Mom married. I am going to have to make a trip up north to see it. ..(I live in South MS)....

We camped in the park where this bridge (and a lot of other CCC structures) is located. All we were looking for was a place to sleep between Shiloh and Vicksburg. We actually arrived in the dark. When we stopped at the Park gate to pay for our campsite I struck up a conversation with the Park Rangers and decided to spend a little time exploring the interesting tile in the mosaic that is Mississippi. We might swing thru there again this spring on the way to Texas. Thanks for your comment. JD
