I have wanted to paint this particular cascade of Catawba Falls since before I opened my first box of student watercolors. Not bad for a first attempt. There is also an Upper Catawba Falls, which I have painted several times. I opened that box of watercolors in 1992 and lost a great deal of confidence about painting this subject when I actually got my first pathetic brushes wet. I called this working notes because my intention was to do a serious rendering of the falls on 300 pound board. One day I will revisit that notion. For the moment, I'm rather pleased with this draft. I hope you like it, too.
05/03/2017 -- I have finished the "serious piece." It is called "Heart of the Forest." I hope some will take the time to look it over. Its a little different. I like them both. Sure wish I had painted it on a half-sheet. It was finished before "Forgotten by Time," but I wanted to get some space between the watercolors on my Images page.
