Painting - Sepia Watercolor Sketch On 140# Watercolor Paper
Description
I started to do this as a Sepia value study but got lost in the joy of painting with a single hue. Watercolor is a joy even if only one pigment is used. This is a view from under the breezeway between the two buildings that used to be the Daughton Park Inn. It was a delightful place. Now the National Park Service is making it look like a crime scene. The Inn never had phones, TVs or wi-fi. To me, that was a part of the charm. At the top of the high distant bald is what remains of the tree that I think of as the Daughton Park Haiku, beyond the bald are the very interesting Daughton Park Rocks, beyond the craggy rocks, an incredible butterfly meadow. Someday I'll have to re-write this description and say it much better, but the old Inn seems to be fading into a sepiatone. Sad.
